Coala 4 Forward vs. 4+2: Which Seating Layout Fits Your Day?

Four people facing forward, or room for six with a rear-facing bench? Compare the layouts around the trips and passengers you actually have.

Compare Coala 4 Forward vs. 4+2 by passenger count and seating direction. Decide whether four forward-facing seats or room for six better fits your regular trips.

The seating difference comes first

The Coala 4 Forward carries four passengers in forward-facing seats. The Coala 4+2 provides six designated passenger positions: four facing forward and two facing rearward. The names describe seating layouts, so begin your comparison with how many people regularly travel together and how they prefer to sit.

Both models are LSV certified, including for California, as is the entire Coala lineup. Registration, insurance and permitted roads remain subject to state and local requirements.

When to explore 4 Forward

If your usual group is four people or fewer and everyone prefers to face the direction of travel, 4 Forward is a useful starting point. Walk around the actual cart and have your passengers try the seats while it is parked. Look at access to each row, foot space and how easily each person can enter and leave.

A smaller passenger requirement does not tell you everything about a cart’s suitability. Check the published dimensions and your storage space, then ask the dealer about the exact configuration, operating limits and equipment on the cart you are considering.

When to explore 4+2

If your group regularly includes five or six people, the extra seating in 4+2 may suit those trips. Make sure the two rear-facing positions work for your passengers. Count everyone who will ride rather than planning to carry extra people outside the designated seats.

If six passengers all need to face forward, compare 6 Forward as a separate option. It is a different seating configuration; do not assume every six-passenger cart offers the same orientation.

Compare the actual vehicles before deciding

Use the model specification pages to prepare questions, then confirm the available vehicles with your dealer. Ask about the battery, charger, controls, overall dimensions, service arrangements and written warranty for each cart. Bring your typical route and passenger load so the conversation reflects real use.

Ask for an itemized quote and a demonstration in a permitted setting. Seating capacity alone does not establish a vehicle’s eligibility for public-road use. If that matters to your purchase, review our street-legal buying guide and confirm the exact vehicle’s documentation.

A short decision checklist

  • How many people ride on most trips?
  • Does everyone need a forward-facing seat?
  • Can passengers enter and exit comfortably?
  • Does the cart fit your parking and storage area?
  • Who will provide local service and warranty help?
