Golf Cart Motor Power: Look Beyond the kW Number
Compare the motor, battery, controller and intended workload as a complete system.

Compare golf cart motor power alongside the battery, controller and intended workload. Use the complete configuration to prepare useful questions for your dealer.
Power is one part of the configuration
A motor specification is useful, but it is not a complete measure of how a cart will fit your day. Compare the battery, controller, vehicle dimensions and operating limits alongside the motor. Ask whether a quoted power figure is continuous or peak and make sure competing quotations use the same basis. Do not turn unlike figures into a simple ranking.
Coala publishes model-specific specifications on its product pages. Use the page for the actual model you are considering rather than transferring a number from another passenger or Utility configuration.
Describe your workload to the dealer
Bring your usual passenger count, cargo needs, terrain and trip pattern. A cart used for repeated short facility runs has a different duty pattern from one used for occasional neighborhood trips. Ask for a demonstration in a permitted setting and discuss the manufacturer’s operating limits for the proposed use.
A more powerful motor does not increase the number of designated seats or establish a higher cargo limit. It also does not change local road-use permissions.
Compare the complete offer
Confirm the battery and charger included, service arrangements and warranty terms before deciding. If a seller proposes a power or speed modification, request written compatibility and compliance information before proceeding.
Should I choose only by horsepower?
No. Start with your use case and verify the complete configuration. Our buying checklist helps organize the comparison.
